Baklava Cocktail

Hello there, I am Vaggelis. You might recognize me from some previous posts. I am Dora’s husband and Odysseys appointed mixologist, that means that every now and again my wife and mother in law let me write a blog.

I love creating different cocktails. The idea for this cocktail came to me 2 years ago while we were preparing for our season, and my lovely wife Dora asked me to once again change the cocktails on our menu. She said she wanted something more traditional Greek or at least a cocktail that had more local ingredients.

So I sat for a couple of days, did my research, and on one of these days, while I was trying some new ideas, Katerina and Dora were having one of their cooking classes. All of a sudden my nose filled with the most delicious scent of fresh warm baklava right out of the oven, and that's when it hit me!

Baklava is one of my favorite desserts and growing up, my mother would make the nicest baklava with homemade filo on special occasions. That is why this Mediterranean dessert holds a special place in my heart and connects to so many special moments and memories.

Well, this beautiful smell of the warm baklava gave me a great idea!
As i am of drinking age now why not make a drinkable baklava!

After doing some research online I quickly realized that people already had attempted to make baklava cocktails. Of course I tried to mimic theirs for inspiration but sadly I could not get close to any of the ingredients they were using, as we live on a small island.

And that's how the experimenting started! Now, as many of you may understand, not all experiments turn out great on the first try, but we sure had a lot of fun trying them!!

After a long day of trying cocktails, we think we found the perfect combination that really makes you feel like you are drinking Baklava. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
